Information held about you
When you get in touch through my website, by email, by phone, or in person, I may collect personal information such as your name, email address, telephone number, and any information you choose to share in your enquiry.
If you decide not to proceed, I will not keep your information for longer than necessary and will usually delete enquiry details within a reasonable period.
If you become a client, I may also keep records relating to appointment dates and times, payments, and brief clinical notes and other clinical documents relating to our work together. Any personal information shared in therapy is treated with a high level of confidentiality.

How your information is used
I keep this information in order to:
-
respond to your enquiry
-
arrange and manage appointments
-
provide counselling and therapy
-
maintain accurate records relating to our work
-
meet professional, ethical, and legal responsibilities
Your information is used only for these purposes and will not be shared without your consent unless I am required to do so by law, or if there is a serious concern for your safety or the safety of others.

Confidentiality and supervision
Everything you share with me in therapy is treated confidentially.
As part of safe and ethical practice, I discuss my work with a clinical supervisor. Information shared in supervision is kept to the minimum necessary and anonymised wherever possible.
Confidentiality may also need to be broken where there is a legal obligation or a serious safeguarding concern.

How your information is stored
Your information is stored securely to help prevent unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. I take appropriate steps to protect the personal data I hold.
Electronic records are stored securely on password-protected systems and devices. Paper records, if used, are stored securely.

How long your information is kept
If you become a client, I normally retain records for 7 years after your final therapy session. After this period, electronic records are securely deleted and paper records are securely destroyed.
If you contact me but do not begin therapy, I will not keep your enquiry information for longer than necessary.

Contact protocol
I may contact you when necessary in relation to therapy, for example to respond to your enquiry, confirm or rearrange appointments, provide practical information, or follow up after a missed session where appropriate.
I may do this by email, telephone, or text message.

Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have rights in relation to your personal information. These include the right to request access to the information I hold about you, to ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, and in some circumstances to request that your information be erased or its use restricted.
Please note that there may be professional, ethical, or legal reasons why I may need to retain certain information.
If you have any questions about how your information is handled, you are welcome to contact me.
If you are unhappy with how your personal data is handled, you also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
